This is what the Japanese tourist board calls the ropeways. Absoutely fantastic and amazing view goes for miles so you NEVER walk outside just loook from inside glass and breath in plenty of cigarette smoke - arrrrgggghhhh.

This is a great family we met and made friends with - we have no idea what they were saying and visa versa - every word we knew in Japanese they knew in English. BUt we laughed and laughed and were sorry to say goodbye!
Here is our first view of Hakone - after a two hour trip - it was an amazing place. The Japanese however, have outdone themselves with their equal amounts of fear and reverence of nature. You can go from one part of Hakone to the other without ever touching the ground - it's like a manga game or a James Bond movie. Hamish and I wish we could stay in Hakone a week, primarily to actually get OUTDOORS.
