Daniel's party

Birthday's, birthdays, birthdays; today was freezing, absolutely freezing and Daniel had his 8 year old birthday party with Magician Luigi Zucchini, which was fantastico! Normally, Teresa and I are the stars of the show, but this year Luigi was a standout. Nivea and I stood outside and stuck little peices of paper in pairs all around the backyard; at one stage Nivea's fingers were almost too cold to peel the pages apart. Who would have thought that frostbite would be an Australian birthday party injury!

I remember taking Iggy, who was then two weeks old into the hospital to meet Daniel the day he was born. We lay the little sweet boys next to each other; new born babies. I can't remember the exact details now, but I am sure their little arms and legs kicked and their babies faces gazed in woder at their new mummas, who also gazed at them in wonder. We hoped for bright and happy futures for them and could not imagine the gulf that awaited us that now exists today between their baby sleves and their eight year old lives. I wonder what their futures bring - I look at them now and I sigh with relief for they are wonderful in their eightness, wonderful!

Born only two weeks apart, they are such incredibly different boys. Iggy and Daniel have no rush because theirs is a friendship that they can take years to build. Some of the things that seperate their interests now will be the things that cement their friendly future.

I will say however, Iggy was jealous that Daniel received 11 DS games to his 8 (get over it!). He has insisted that we go tomorrow and spend some of his birthday money on some more games. He will get a shock because as of next week his DS time will be severly limited, back to two days a week. He'll be fine he has had an incredible run (as have we, Hamish and I fight for the little gadget and are talking about buying ourselves one each in Japan!).
We had an excellent time at the birthday party and my kids always love a McGrady do; I'm pushing Luigi for the kinder later this year. Hope you like the photos.
